new artist Sakuems and Miranda's journal page

Crafts and Me has a new artist on board. The wonderful Emilie Jarrige. Also known as Sakuems. Emilie is a French artist and she works with watercolours, Copic Markers and Coloured pencils. She makes artwork, videos,  product reviews, tutorials and much much more.
She is a fabulous artist and we are so happy that her images and a digital colouringbook are now available in the shop. Check them out here.

This wonderful image is called the Seer and is coloured with Copic Markers and colouring pencils.

I started with my Copic Markers using the E50 first. I add my shadows with the E00 W1, 3, 5 and BV00. Then all layers are blend together with the E000 and E0000.

For the eyes I have used E25, 29 ,79, YG18 and Y35.
The lips are coloured with E95, YR04 and YR18.

All her tattoos and jewelery are coloured with V04, G14, YR04, C3 and C5, For her hair I have used a whole range of yellows, oranges and rusty browns. I normally start with the darkest colour first, which is the E08. Than I use YR18, 04 Y32, 35 and 38.
After all the Copic work is finished I use the colouring pencils to enchance shadows or highlights.

And this is the finished project, an art journalpage.

hugs
Miranda

Say Hello to our new Exclusive artist Sakuems

Hi ! my name is Emilie Jarrige but i'm known as Sakuems online ! i'm a 29 years old French Artist and youtuber.
i've been drawing since i was about 11 and always wanted to make a living with my work. I didn't know how long it will take but i had this clear idea in my head.
After lots of hard work, i'm now able to create the art that i love and than people love too. I'm mostly creating content for youtube, my online shops and some commissions for time to time. I started working on coloring books and adult coloring about 2 years ago and i saw that it was really popular so i kept on creating little characters and more complex designs for those who like to color :)
My art is revolving around beautiful women, a modern fantasy/romantic mix with lots of portraits, flowers and peaceful scenes. I'm definitely an emotional artist who likes to draw simple characters but with lots of details around them. I also love to get captivated by their faces :)
Besides art, my life is pretty simple, i spend most of my days drawing, watching videos, playing videos games and chatting with artists or my cat ! I live alone but it's fine, as i'm always buys ! I love to listen to new age and celtic music while creating new characters or while cooking. That's about it ! my life is just about Art 99% of the time !
I hope you'll like what i do ! :)
Feel free to follow me and some of my art videos on my channel youtube.com/sakuems !
You can also find me as Sakuems on pretty much any social media.

image transfer

The wonderful images by Emily Luella are great for making an image transfer.
You can find the images here

What do you need:
a background, I used a gelli print
an image printed with a laserjet printer
mat gel medium (liquitex, golden, ara, deco art or any other brand)
mini mister
gesso

I removed the background of the image.

Put the image upside down on your background and trace the shape.
If there are words or numbers in your print, be sure to make a mirror image print, otherwise you won't be able to read it after you've made the transfer.

Add a layer of gesso.

Add a layer of gel medium on the image and let it dry.
Add a layer of gel medium on the gesso also and let it dry.

Add a second layer of gel medium on the image and glue the image on the gesso.
Make sure that all the airbubbles are removed , use a old debit/creditcard to do this.

And let it dry completely, usually a night.

After it dried all night, spray water on the image and let it soak for a few seconds.

Rub away the paper.
You need to repeat this a few times before all the paper will be removed. When the image dries up white, it means that not all the paper is removed yet. so add water, let it soak and start rubbing again.

When all the paper has been removed your image will look like this.

I used this image and background for making an art journalpage.

hope you'll like this little tutorial

hugs
Miranda
